Melasma

Melasma is characterized by the presence of skin discolorations that appear mainly in the face area. Melasma occurs exclusively in adults, more commonly in women (90%), and especially during pregnancy.

It also often occurs in women with dark skin, especially in the summer months due to exposure to sunlight.

What factors contribute to its creation?

  • Hereditary predisposition
  • Hormonal fluctuations, pregnancy, contraceptive treatment
  • Excessive exposure to UV radiation (sun, solarium)
